Last Kiss
Fog thickening a mind
seldom penetrated
Only at rarest of intervals in the
autumn sunsets of life long lingered
A bygone melody piercing the gloom
the scene fairly mocked him
Then floated off, leaving a groan
in its sacred place
Yet a thrill ran up his spine
his hair on end
Finding his lips pursed
in long-forgotten anticipation
