l'appel du vide

A void within me calls
wanting only what I've never had,
but I've always seen.
The taste of a possession so illegal,
It's to die for.
as literal and figurative
as the jaws of the idea itself
surrounding and consuming me.

Oh, I've seen it.

The ecstasy of true bliss
multiplied only their best moments.
The promise of nostalgia
and a feeling of home.
An easiness I've only ever felt before I opened my eyes
for the first time to feel

a comfort so promising
that I ignore its temperance
And someday I will ignore the oncoming illness
and consume it as it does me.
