10/1/2026 for Autumn Flowers Poetry Contest sponsored by Anthony Blanco
Next to the tree by my garden plot, there's a circular dirt-filled spot, where a wee seed sprouted and began a flowery plant called a lantana. You're saying, "What about 'flowers of Autumn'?" - lantana flowers - each season's got 'em. Yup, I guess what you say is so, but Autumn's when this one chose to grow, and I hope it will grow to be as huge, as the bush where butterflies took refuge in my childhood back yard, where I didn't have to try so hard, as, beside my little beagle pup, I hunted a butterfly I called "buttercup".
