Land of the Midnight Sun
Moose hyde tanned, cut, and stitched to fit,
Exquisite is its feel upon the foot.
Cradled in its warming grasp,
I take the first step into an unknown world.
Shades of brown, green and grey,
The tundra opens in front of me.
Jack Pines so thin and tall pattern the land,
Abundant in its rock, snow and ice.
This is the first taste of the wild,
The Land of the Midnight Sun.
An emptiness so hauntingly serene beckons,
As the never ending daylight colours the summer sky.
