Lady of Winter

Dear lady of winter
why must you be so harsh

shed your ermine wraps
and put away your hooded

cloak of white - beautiful as
it may seem when gleaming

in the cold sun like a thousand
diamonds and glossy pearls

the land does slumber too long
the trees sleep too deeply

under your strict command
of days that are too dark

and moons peer out from
behind cell bars and prison

sentences of winter discontent
release the prisoners of Spring

held captive by a cruel winter
in dampness and bone chilling

days and nights - let down your
dark walls and break the fetters

of those who cry out to be free
and taste the delights of the

newborn world once again..
and do away with this abomination

known as winter..

Wonderful use of allieration in this write, Valerie. As much as the season of winter can be beautiful in it's spendor - I much rather enjoy the elements of spring and summer. It's way too cold here in NYC right now! LOL! A stunning write. Peace always, John

Great job in the personifcation of this one, Valerie! Seems like Lady Winter is not very agreeable to be hanging around much longer...hope she gets booted out soon! ~ Love, Carrie

Awesome Personification and clever write. Usually I would protest as I am a fall and winter girl, however, this winter has been so harsh already, I am embracing thoughts of Spring! 'She' does seem quite cruel this year! Hang in, time moves swiftly. Love, Shar
