Lady Moon

Have you seen the morning moon,
the Lady moon?

She is not that cold image
hanging upon a noose of night;
that one is a dead face
submerged in a sea of darkness.

No, that is not her,
she is a lovely woman,
that died before the earth was born.

When we look at that pale orb
we are seeing her grave,
yet her ghost still plants seeds of light
to germinate a fertile earth.

That work of hers
has made her light beautiful,
and the sun reflects her
as it would a prayer
over a legend.

Do you see that youthful unveiling?

At dawn when the long night fails
she also must pass away
to where oceans are teardrops.
