Lady Godiva

The portrait of Lady Godiva’s Ride Inspires many a thought; A woman filled with so much pride, And against her husband, she fought; Naked the Lady rode through town, To protest her husband’s tax; Coventry never was the same, It stopped them in their tracks; Lady Godiva never was tame, But to me she is renowned! The Lady was so daring and brave, To face everyone in the nude; History never reports women who behave, But women like her they include; Her brilliant ride on a stunning Gray, Strutting her stuff through Coventry, Her beauty remains unsurpassed; The legend there for all to see, Scarlet locks draped across her in a mass, Such emotion this painting does portray!

This is a dazzling and very well expressed poem, Tirzah, and being a Godiva fan (of the chocolates, that is!) I couldn't resist reading this delightful poem! Carl.

Wonderful write about a person who gets little attention in today's world of "baring it all". Today, she wouldn't get a comment...except that she was on a horse. lol. Dan C
