Lace And Candelabra

My thoughts now flicker shadowed walls
                      As lace through candelabra falls
Though littered in such sweet design
I’m comforted that they are mine

Through memories that plan ahead
My mind erases what I dread
Replaced by scattered thoughts that dare
To linger as my feelings flare

So beautiful, this life I know
The summer sun, the fallen snow
As interwoven flashes form
I dance in time, so soft and warm

A blink of flying, island sleeps
              Those weddings, bidding joyful weeps
The Christmases and birthdays fair
My knowing you are always there

As thoughts still flicker fancy free
I worry not the state of me
A respite always finds my will
As rested as when time stands still

Paul, Your poem is full of emotions, casting shadows that dance with the flicker of candlelight. Through your words, memories bloom like flowers in a garden, each petal adorned with delicate lace. Your ability to find comfort in the midst of life’s intricacies is truly inspiring. The imagery of summers and winters, weddings and birthdays, showing the richness of existence. It leaves us with a sense of peace and acceptance, a testament to the beauty of embracing the present moment. - Daniel

Such a beautiful poem dear Mike with a great title too. Love the flow and brilliant rhymes as always from your gifted pen. The opening line is absolutely wonderful and draws the reader in immediately. Such well crafted reminiscing here with reflective thoughts that are touching and intimate for the reader to share. That last stanza is so poignant. A gentle, tender read from you. As Deb says - gorgeous! Thank you for sharing. :)) x

I feel gliding through the flow of this poem. "The summer sun, the fallen snow As interwoven flashes form I dance in time, so soft and warm".... Love these lines. Here I sense the contentment of a heart, not over ambitious, but happy with the simple things of life. You don't wish to rush into activity, but enjoy the pause and lull of life. A smooth flowing, lovely poem dear Mike....
