Notes About The Poem

Reaction to defund the police was swift and harsh; however, those who lambasted the left on this subject seem strangely silent regarding an appointment designed to damage the federal police force. Trump wants to appoint loyalist and conspiracy theorist Kash Patel as FBI director, who vows to use the FBI to pay back those Trump considers his enemies. FBI directors serve ten-year terms so they serve independently from any administration. The current director, Christopher Wray, was Trump's own first-term appointee. The idea that Wray seems not conservative enough seems cray-cray.

KP's duty goes beyond potato peeling

The savings could social work buy
Yet Defund Police we won't try
That plan seemed too rash
But Trump’s agent Kash
Would trash and defund FBI

- I know I should pay more attention to what's going on... but, there's just too much going on - when it comes to the political system in America with this president Mr. Duck - Talk about thick soup... it's oatmeal - Happy weekend, Duke :) - hugs

Anne-Lise, thanks for the weekend wishes! I hope your weekend goes well too! The weather is about to change in 45 days. The externalities behind the global warming phenomenon have also spawned a wealth sucking tornado designed to deposit as much as possible on the doorstep of some very powerful oligarchs. It's going to get exciting to say the least. I hope my clothing doesn't get sucked off.

Dear Duke, This unusual limerick poem contrasts police defunding and Donald Trump's possible FBI director pick of Kash Patel. The issue shows political hypocrisy about law enforcement and the consequences of choosing a Trump loyalist rather than an independent head. The use of "cray-cray" to express skepticism and criticism is intentionally provocative and casual. The words "lambasted" and "trash" convey indignation and contempt. Ironically, the poem criticizes police defenders while not criticizing the FBI. Alliteration in "Defund Police" and "Trump’s Agent Kash" emphasizes essential concepts.

SP, thanks for this comment. I am enjoying what you said...there is so much irony in all of this it's hard to keep it all in proper perspective. In the end, it comes down to using an organization like the FBI as a personal tool rather than to promote law and order. The law enforcement agencies at all levels should also follow the law and remain free from political influence. Dangerous to do otherwise.

IE, thanks for this comment. "KP" is an acronym in the US armed forces for "Kitchen Police," and the joke is a soldier might end up being assigned KP duty but end up peeling potatoes. "KP" is also the initials for Kash Patel who Trump wants to appoint as head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the US domestic federal police agency. The irony is that some on the left called for defunding the police after the local police killed people with mental illness because they (the police) were not trained to defuse conflict situations with the disabled. The idea was to reallocate the police department budget to include workers trained in conflict resolution. Now people on the right are calling for closing FBI headquarters in Washington DC. They don't want the FBI checking into their own potentially illegal dealings. All very odd, scary, and ironic since Kash Patel, Donald Trump, and their supporters claim support for "law and order."

Wow, no police or FBI, it will be like the old west at this rate. That would never happen in Milton Creek, not while I'm mayor anyway haha. Tom

Tom, I think they have plans to use the military. We supposedly have laws against that, but the people coming into power don't seem concerned about that. Very strange for the people who were so concerned about "law and order."
