Knowledge
I have sought thee with all my heart
From the days of my youth I made you my best part
We were happy as two souls who never want to depart
And then I was suddenly wrenched from you
My mind turned blank and I wandered like a bloody fool
I was worse than a prisoner in a prison;
For it was far worse for the cells of the mind to be in the dark
than to be trapped in a dark cell
And one day while I was looking far away out of the window
Like a gentle dove you came back and sat on my shoulder
I would never forget the light that flooded back into my mind
Like a bird that let out of a cage my mind became free
Knowledge I salute and bend my heart to thee
