Theme 4:
Old age and loneliness can be "complications of life."
Unfortunate, especially when family members
are not close or live far away.

Knitted Memories


Nestled
in her old chair-
world outside her window
and indoor plants, a sign of life-
she knits.

Fingers
work their magic-
grant her moments' purpose;
then reminiscing years gone by-
tears flow.

Slowly,
she wraps her needles
and the unfinished scarf.
Putting them aside, she whispers,
“what for...”

Oh my, this is a very nostalgic and heartfelt write with deep emotions that come associated with the picture.. You've described it's essence so well whilst weaving this eloquent cinquain poem.. "A sign of life-she knits" That's so evocative.. "Then reminiscing years gone by - tears flow" Ah, that ending is so poignant.. A brilliant take for the contest, dear!
