(k)night Into Dreams

Oh blessed night that gallops through an endless field of crystal blue,
sky-blossoms bloom on your behalf,
oh guardian of sleeper's path.

When little ones are tucked in bed and crickets start to serenade,
your lustrous mane of sable beams
begins to foster blissful dreams.

For every calm nocturnal breath, for each protective evening-glance,
the sun retards its rising pace:
that beacon must not pierce this place.

How is it that my inner world is best portrayed beneath your rule?
Are you perhaps the reason why
my mind sprouts wings and starts to fly?

A knight of nights that wields the sky is looming closely overhead:
a knight who'd gladly brave the field,
whose dark embrace becomes my shield.

Oh blessed knight that gallops through an endless realm of mental streams,
please keep my dreams from morning white
until I sleep again tonight.
