Kiss the Evening Mist
Mud flew through the air
It broke the smokey glare
My feet felt like ice on fire
I knew the road was dire
In slow motion we ran at speed
Teeth grinding hard as the ghosts surrounding screamed
The light broke into a million stars
Pain in fire as my life expired
My soul moved millions of miles to find
I could not leave you behind
Eighty years you find my field of death
Eighty years I held my breath
You close your eyes to kiss the evening mist
I embrace your body, you open your eyes to see
The ghost of the man you love is here with thee.
