Kid Gloves

Of what use are gloves to a newly-born child Whose fingers just long to break free Or sonnets by Shakespeare to infants at school Just starting to learn ABC? And why give a castaway banished for life A casket of jewels and gold Or offer an ice-cream to folk on the street Who've spent the night out in the cold? For all things in life there's a time and a place So mittens and gloves will exchange But wisdom is needed for chances to grow As seasons in life re-arrange. 19.01.23 Of What Use Are Gloves To Fingers That Only Understand Mittens Poetry Contest Sponsor: John Lawless
