Kick the Can

As children we played “kick the can,”
a game of defending the can.
Two captains choose waiting players
Coin is tossed to see which side’s first.

Winners hide in close concealment
As children we played “kick the can,”
Losers choose a member for guard
He protects the can from kick’s harm

If a hiding member is seen
He is called “out” by the can’s guard
As children we played “kick the can,”
That hiding person is captured

Release is barely possible
Can must be kicked by hiding friend
before he is seen by the guard
As children we played “kick the can,”
