Sara's Casualty of Your Cruelty Contest <> May 1, 2025

What's worse than a malicious master of manipulation? Two who join together to play Pin the Tail on their prey Continuously and clamorously... asses love to bray Cruelty is not always physical Some take joy in messing with the mind Blowing in like a blustering wind with wicked words bringing them fame of being labeled 'Keyboard Bullies' Isn't that a repugnant name? There's nothing casual about the pain their cryptic cruelty causes, nor the disdain Odious is the stench of ogres in the game they play Beasts who feast on innocent folks With a guileful grin they wound with keystrokes Shots fired from wolves in sheep's clothing They're gnashing teeth bite with loathing Poisoned seeds of malice they sow cawing to anyone who listens when they crow With a nit-picking beak or crooked finger pointing, they appoint themselves kings and queens, then squat on a throne by self-anointing Pathetic fools dwelling in a state of pretense whose level of narcissism and bullying is immense Sharpened are their tongues and pens used as tools Quick to throw a gauntlet upon the ground at what they presume is weak quarry but how speedily they bay like injured hounds when a righteous eye looks in their direction Intimidation is a hallmark of their imperfection The white flag wavers are filled with ire Waffles, covering themselves in sweet syrup talk claiming they're the victim. What a crock! Their feet should be held in the fire No one should be a casualty of their cruelty Disparaging others is a painful assault The fault of aggressors who crave attention Keyboard bullies causing conflict and dissension Living in their dark world... the cyber dimension

Congratulations on placing in my contest. The imagery you use to describe cyber bullying is perfection. "They're gnashing teeth bite with loathing," I always enjoy the use of gnashing as a description in dark poetry. "Continuously and clamorously... asses love to bray," yes cyber bullies love to say whatever when they think the scene protects them not realizing we are all living breathing people on the other end. Thank you for writing on such an important topic.

Hi Sara. Thanks so much for finding a spot on your winning list for my expose' on bullies. Problem with exposing some of them is that they never admit to the fault. Still braying and playing the part of the innocent. It's always a challenge to write for you.

Its so sad and unfair that some people feel the need to be unkind and vicious behind the safety of their keyboards….weak and cowardly. I always think these people are insecure and lack self worth and it makes them feel good to be nasty and cruel. Well written lovely Lin….Debx

I think you're right about their past problems, Deb. Only someone who is bitter could be that bitter to innocent others. Thanks for the remarks, Deb.

Lin, I happened to see an online story about Sydney Towle...a female cancer patient influencer who was slammed by anonymous haters. This exists everywhere, and it's a very unfortunate product of our society. It would take classy leadership to help reduce the severity and frequency of this type of thing. We hope we don't have anything like it here on this site! Oh wait is that a picture of me at the keyboard above? LOL!!! Take care!!!!

lol, Duke!! I would never label you a bully. They DO exist everywhere. The kitchen has a couple who like to open the large opening on the pepper can instead of liberally seasoning the soup to make it palatable. Thanks for making ME smile with your comments.'-)

Wow, this is such a courageous and clever piece and so powerfully penned You’ve captured the insidious nature of cyber bullying with sharp insight and bold rhythm. “Keyboard bullies causing conflict and dissension” was very impactful. I completely agree that cruelty online is just as damaging, and your voice stands strong against it. Thank you for speaking truth with such poetic flare. A fav

Thank you for recognizing the problem, Billie. That kind of harassment is so unnecessary and definitely cruel. 'Insidious' is exactly what it is. Thanks again for the read and your perceptive thoughts. ;-)

BRAVO for writing this masterpiece Lin and you know what more and more folk are seeing through king troll master of manipulation on the site forever the victimiser playing victim. I have asked admin as have others to enhance the block feature so if we have someone blocked they cant piggy back on comments we make elsewhere but sadly it is not to be. hugs Jan xx

We both know bullying has been a problem on the site for years, but it's a worldwide issue. Both genders are guilty of such behavior, and that too, holds true in the soup. Offenders find a way to get to their chosen prey, and care not one iota if their actions are cruel. Thanks for commenting, Jan. You're missed.

It's a shame those persistently chasing people in comments, utilising others POTD as a soapbox & piggy backing on comment replies don't stop & reflect on their behaviour. They often try to justify by holding up the reaction as the offence. I end up feeling sorry for them but I do wish platforms like this offered more protection. Being able to block so you can't see them at all would be wonderful. Being able to report comments would be another useful tool. I'd love to see the most blocked list!

Everything you mentioned describes a tumbleweed. I think Jan wrote the last one. I've stopped giving the attention seekers even that titch of notoriety. There really is no justification for their offensive behavior. We can report the comments, but they fall on blind eyes. And so they continue to have cart blanche over who they'll pick on today. More have witnessed it in action, and some have even called them out. I'd bet a book of Sonnets and two dozen Limericks I could tell you the most blocked. Thanks for adding your thoughts and opinions.

I've heard of many committing suicide because of them, social media sites do nothing about it and should hang their heads in shame. Well highlighted Lin. Tom

I'd not wish such a tragic outcome for anyone but some push too far and far too long. They have no shame. Thanks for your remarks, Tom

i didn't know anything about this, lin, but you've described it very well and it certainly doesn't surprise me that this is happening. when the supposed "leaders" use bullying to get their way, it opens the door to imitation by those who need to demean others to feel powerful. pathetic!

Hi, Ilene. I thought a contest with the theme of Casualty of Your Cruelty was a perfect chance to bring about an awareness of the bullying that happens in which a keyboard is the trench where bullies hide and shoot at whomever they choose. It really is pathetic. Thanks for your thoughts and the visit.

A fine topic to be written about, I hope you weren't a victim, it seems like you got a lot off your chest

Morning, Frederic. That there's a need to get things off my chest is a bothersome point of contention for many people. Victim? Oh yes, many times, but so were others who did nothing to deserve such vexing harassment. Some have told me they pity them for their behavior. I cannot be that indulging after repeated offenses. Thanks for reading me and leaving your comments about it being a topic that needs addressing.
