KEMET LIVES

Along the River Nile
Lies a potent earth so fertile
Before it met a sudden death
In the cold hands of civilization.

Now it lives only as a ghost
Once a symbol of becoming
A beacon of hope
A name we carried like breath.

They stripped her of her story
Wrapped her in another’s image
Called her ruins what was once glory
And buried her truth beneath conquest.

But Kemet still lives
In skin kissed by sun
In tongues they tried to silence
In the pride of those who still remember her name.
