Keeping Up With the Joneses

Sammy Skelton, a sorry bag of bones
Tried to keep up with Johnny 'Crossbone' Jones
   He practiced grim groans
   Produced awful moans
Yet never did improve his muscle tone

Love this write - really funny - I enjoyed the way you rhymed each line - missed reading your poems Gershon, but move now over and back on soup after a hectic two weeks. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Thanks for letting me know you found this funny, Jennifer... That must have been some move you undertook! Two weeks! I imagine that you're not living out of boxes though. Some people do so for months (or years, LOL) after they move. Welcome back! Cheers, Gershon

This was funny G. I don;t know why but I kept picturing Red Skeleton and Johnny Carson as I read this.

Ha, ha! Red Skelton! Hadn't thought of him and his drunken 'Mr. Dunahee (sp?) --- must have been a mispronunciation of Donoghue, now that I pause to reflect --- characterization for ages! Thanks for sparking that bit of nostalgia. Smiles, Gershon
