Keeping Secrets
Deep within the walls of my soul are
hidden secrets that I have never told,
Some are new, and some are decades
old,
I don’t think the day will ever come when
I dare to be bold,
So, they will have to remain sealed and
permanently on hold.
Secrets are a burden of great weight,
The power of secrets can build bridges
and seal fates.
Behind closed doors, hushed confessions,
spilt no longer kept deep inside,
Oh, how I wished I hadn’t made it so easy
for them to unload and confide.
Being a keeper of secrets makes me feel
different and uneasy, a pledge given,
never to break but to honour an oath
of trust,
I realise these secrets will have to be
buried deep beneath the earth’s crust.
