Keeping My Mind Off the Virus

Cardinal flew in on a dream
Lighting my hair on fire
But it was better than normal
So I said thank you

I was on my third cup of coffee
Nothing could bother me
I attached a message to its foot
And off it flew to my friend’s cottage in Puerto Rico

Helen Reddy’s I am Woman was playing in my mind for some reason
My ridiculously notorious pet raccoon was painting her nails
That is not your color I started to say
But retracted quickly; after all she is a Gemini

Telling a Gemini what to do is like talking to an Aquarius
Leo is the only other sign that would kill you for a suggestion
Raccoon began to fix my hair and I relaxed
This would keep her entertained and in the house

We were under strict orders to stay inside in Kansas City
If we break that rule we could get six months in jail
Worse yet, we might have to pay a five hundred dollar fine
I spent all my money on toilet paper yesterday.
