KEEP OPTIMISM ALIVE
We currently live in a world where hatred and prejudice
make it easy to be a pessimist…
where many people are desperately trying to survive…
so it’s up to us to do our best…to keep optimism alive.
I like think of myself as an optimist…I try to stay upbeat every day…
It helps me to keep going when things don’t go my way.
It’s not that bad things don’t happen to me…
that my life is without misfortune or strife…
It’s that my optimism helps reminds me I’m only having a bad day
in what is still a wonderful life.
I’m not dismissing pessimism…in it’s own way it can be a useful attribute.
The Wright Brothers (two optimists) created the airplane…
While Louis-Sébastien Lenormand from France
(who I assume was a pessimist) invented the parachute.
I’m not an expert…it’s possible pessimists may be right…
but I say with some confidence and pride
optimism makes for a much more enjoyable ride.
So I will stick with optimism…I’ll try my best to waltz through every pain
and when bad weather visits…I’ll go dancing in the rain.
And at this time in history when evil has darkened our world
when it’s difficult to see the light…
I’ll find my optimism…my hope for the future
In the stars that shine at night.
I believe there are more optimists out there…
those who on a cloudy day can find the sun.
The proof for me is close to home… you see I married one.
If you need more proof of optimism…
the next time you’re depressed…or find yourself in a pinch…
remember the modern pencil is 7 inches long…
while the eraser…is only half an inch.
