Keep My Heart Safe
It's time to move on from the past and leave the dark days
I've got a few remedies to ease the heartache
In order to love you, I know you need my heart babe
But i've been hurt so much, I need to keep heart safe
I'm not looking for love, and I don't need it either
Giving you a second chance will only make my bleeding deeper
I forgive you, but I'm not giving you the chance to stay around
You thought it'd be a walk in the park and I'd happily be your playground
i've been betrayed so many times I've lost my ability to trust
I know forgiveness is important and humility's a must
But I stay to myself because I've only been seeing betrayal
We live in a time where people have an issue with being faithful
I've crossed oceans for people who wouldn't step over a puddle for me
That's why opening up is a struggle for me
If you kick me while I'm down, you better hope I don't get back up
You won't win a race against someone who's used to being on the back foot
Proving people wrong is my favourite tactic
So I'm eating with the same knife I've been stabbed in the back with
If you spoil me with loyalty I'll double it in return
But I'm keeping my heart safe because not many people are true to their words
