Keep Me Off Your Mind
Don’t look for me in the wind
I refuse to whisper back
The day after it rains
I open my window
To see what the world has to offer me
Which has all gone away
So I shut my window
To dampen entering air
Flowing into my personal
Space.
I don’t know which way the wind
Is blowing.
I dare not ask.
With music playing
Unpleasant background chords
Accompanied by astute lyrics
And the occasional scream
There’s not enough beeswax on my hands
I’ve ceased to grease my portfolio
“I know we don’t know each other well
But I can tell there’s a lot going on in your life right now”
Said that girl.
Well what you don’t won’t hurt you,
So keep me off your mind.
