Keep Believing

Over and over again,
Time and time again,
Attempt after attempt
Was made to change the
very essence of me, and there
were too many times that even I
doubted me until one day, worn
and ragged, I kept to doing my best
With the gifts that God gave me. I sat
at a makeshift desk and began to write.
Shortly thereafter, I looked to my left and saw
My best friend staring straight into my eyes. I tell you,
My dog Jack gave me all the confidence I needed to keep
Writing. I looked into the eyes of Jack staring at me, and without
a sound, he said to me, "You can do this, and I love you just the way you are".
