Kansas Tornado
Howling winds of Kansas made us cry out that August
We felt threatened.
Sounded like a train
Then deadly quiet
Tornado was here
Someone yelled “get the kids!”
We survived the storm in a bathtub
All four of us were alive
Almost everything else was gone
Priorities changed instantly
