Kansas Tornado

Howling winds of Kansas made us cry out that August We felt threatened. Sounded like a train Then deadly quiet Tornado was here Someone yelled “get the kids!” We survived the storm in a bathtub All four of us were alive Almost everything else was gone Priorities changed instantly

I have seen about ten tornadoes in my lifetime, and I have heard probably six or seven others. We live in an earth-sheltered house. Our roof might fly away, but it would be nigh onto impossible to tear the concrete sides of our house up as most of our walls are fourteen feet underground!

Yes. It is so true that a single event can change all of our priorities, but it also helps us understand what is really important in life.
