Kaleidoscope Eyes

~ Picture yourself in a boat on a river sailing along with the moon in your eyes Following dreams found to make your heart quiver with tangerine trees and marmalade skies Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly counting the words in between all your sighs Seeing her face and it captures you wholly a girl with kaleidoscope eyes Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain with waters so clear as your sprits arise Climbing each step up a marzipan mountain where rocking-horse people eat marshmallow pies Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers wearing the wings of a young butterfly Tickling tulips on top of the towers that grow so incredibly high Picture yourself on a train in a station where magazines offer a travel surprise As luggage arrives in your imagination with plasticine porters with looking-glass ties Suddenly someone is there at the turnstile your heart skips a beat in the autumn sunrise Dreams all come true as she sends you a smile the girl with kaleidoscope eyes ~
Inspired by the poem Strawberry Fields Forever written by Jennifer Proxenos Her use of Beatles song lyrics woven into her wonderful poem intrigued me. So I thought I would try my own using lyrics from The Beatles, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. The first and last lines in each stanza are from their song, in order

This is a masterpiece Chris, the Beatles would be proud of you! I am so sorry I don't often go onto soup and only went on this evening after guests we had left. Of course I don't mind, I'm honored and proud. Hugs, Jennifer.

Just the title alone told me what this was, great choice for the title, very distinct line. What a marvelous job you did with this Chris. It's hard enough to craft a song but to do what you did, for me, very impressive, I don't think I could do it. Although I've been working on another Imagine song, been two years...ugh!

I was hoping you'd find this one because I was really curious at what you would think. I am glad you liked this. It was kind of difficult to write to tell the truth. It was fun though.

Your imagery is wonderful, Chris. "Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers wearing the wings of a young butterfly Tickling tulips on top of the towers that grow so incredibly high"
