Justice Lost

The deed is done And nothing is won For a life lost A family counts the cost So does it come down To what negotiations are found And what will they plead Is weighed up to what a family needs Something done in a second Is left to what the lawyers reckon A father stands and says the words Pleading to a lesser charge seems absurd So they leave the press scene With tears alone appearing so mean And how do you return to life When justice lost seems so rife. © Paul Warren Poetry
