Justice
Justice
Brought before him,
I stood alone.
Defeat had been total,
I was dead to the bone.
My emptiness complete,
to my knees I fell.
I awaited my fate,
a sentence to hell.
I bowed my head,
I couldn’t look up.
Wrath and death
filled my cup.
I awaited the blade
to strike that fatal blow.
To complete the sentence
and destroy my soul.
It wasn’t a blade
that I had expected.
But a hand of mercy
that I once rejected.
My heart broke hard,
tears began to roll.
This act of kindness
was beyond my control.
I could not avert
his gaze any longer.
I was weak,
he was stronger.
This death I thought
that would take place,
was taken from me
by one who showed grace.
I cannot forget
this enemy I fought.
Who showed me mercy
with love that he bought.
