Just Words
a poem is just words
strung together
if there is no emotion
in the writer or the reader
poetic words can hurt
while some might heal
my words of poetry
must show what I feel
writing poetry
is a balm to my soul
words of joy and love
written from my heart
it fills the emptiness
of a solitary life
conveys to another
loneliness and its pain
I write poetry
most of all for myself
the words speak my heart
and what's on my mind
