Just To Say a Word
It's been here all of my life
my tongue has fought this
to get words formed so to speak
what if I could speak without a miss
Now nearly three score years and ten
at times one feels forward so slight
reminisce of that school first day
would I ever get over it? I might!
Frustration has been mostly in charge
pulling me up, down round about
the tongue has struggled full of nerves
anxiety fills me so many a doubt
Therapy has come my way again
so often in past been there before
this has to be the last chance
writing a poem to calm upon a roar
Just to say a word hits a stammer
don't panic just slow soft and speak
live with hope never to give up
go on, look up, hey try some Greek!
(I have written this to convey my inward feeling of where I am just now, always seeking to move forward despite the hindrances of my stammer and looking for divine intervention.)
