Just This Once

Just this once, oh, please! For me?
I promise you it shall be my last
One more won't hurt, I swear you'll see
I think it not too much to ask?

Your doubtful gaze; you disbelieve
That I could ever truly change
My wicked ways, so long aggrieved
You've left me now, our love estranged

And I have but myself to blame-
When I am burned by dying flames

Chan The Man this is a very powerful piece. I can feel the anguish and pain along with the pleas of one more chance. Nice job Hugs Thanks for the nice comment on my Stormy Weather poem

So far this is my favorite piece from your collection of poems. Rhyming is my frustration and that's why I rarely do it. Your work, however, shines. This here is a special piece that made me feel like I got cornered at the edge of a cliff. Not in a bad way, though! \m/

They say "when you play with fire you are bound to get burned". And, sometimes, when we try to change or do the right thing it just blows up in our faces, and no matter how hard we tried it doesn't work. But, there will always be another day to try again! Excellent writing, I loved your rhyming, too!
