Just Staring Out To Sea

I stood upon the shore and stared I stared far out to sea, To where the horizon met the sky In perfect symmetry. The shore, it was desolate A lonely place to be, Seagulls called in plaintive cry As though they pitied me. Alone, I listened to the waves As they lapped upon the sand, How I wished that you were here And we were hand in hand. But you were taken from me It was not our destiny, So there I stood, on my own, Just staring out to sea. The lonely sky and sea are a kind of poignant metaphor for the loss of love. Very moving Gary. Congratulations on your deserving win! : )

A Touching poem, Gary. Sometimes all we can do is stare, more often than not we don't even see what we are staring at. Great write my friend. Enjoyed.
