Just So You Know
I love you for the love
you have proven
I am able to feel.
I hold it in me, this love,
like a pail of hot broth.
When I walk,
it gently licks my insides,
a tantrum of hot liquid filling the
sponge of my heart daily.
I cannot tell you how much
my surrender has to do with
your moon tentacles or the
gentle scrape of your voice
across my remembering.
I cannot tell you when or how
these things came to be
or why we so often do what is done to us.
What I know is
in the morning when I
wake a question mark,
and the shape of you in me
filled with the sweetness of knowing
has boiled over,
I am burning
where I have only
ever known frost.
