Just passing by
Light teases flirting shadows
He knows they are in his mercies
He will rule them, he will determine their fate
He can swallow them in his might
But they are of shadowed minds
They do not know the hour or day
When night comes to suck them away
Blend them into darkness
Who shall open our eyes to see
That we are just passing by
We are shadow, we are night
Soon to disappear at the turn of time
The moment fades into memories
The curtain flaps and life closes
Another is gone
And I wonder
Did he get a chance to say goodbye, I'm sorry, I love you?
Was he accorded a chance to catch a glimpse of the life behind
Lovers come, lovers gone, the bittersweet?
He used to walk with a bounce and swag
But it is all sand and dust now
Life is but an escaping breath
Who can hold it in when it's time has come?
Who can tarry the call when it rings in the soul?
And yet we often forget
That we are just passing by
Fluttering candles in the wind
Whose light will soon snuff out
And we passing by
Will soon pass on
To our lasting gloom or glory
