My husband had been battling cancer for two and a half years when it suddenly moved to his brain. We thought he couldn't speak anymore and all of a sudden one night he finally said "I love you. You're beautiful." That's pretty well the only words he repeated for a whole week to both myself and his daughter. He said it at least fifty times... what a pure heart he had ~

Listen to poem:
I know it’s selfish
to miss the days
the hospital bed
was in the livingroom
when I could still
caress your hand
and climb up to
hold you close to me
I know it’s selfish
to miss the days
when I could hear
your labored breath
echo throughout
I know it’s selfish
but what I would give
to go back to the last time
you looked at me
and whispered
I love you
you’re beautiful
