Just One
Regard this solitary woman:
The slanting of her eyes
When she would look your way;
The treasure of her words
When she would share her heart.
The measure of her love
As she would measure yours.
Regard this solitary woman
Wrapped in silk and perfume;
Her chains are made of gold.
Her dreams are made of chains....
And somewhere in a young man's name
The reason for her solitude remains...
