Just Once

Just once I’d like to hold you,
To keep you in my arms.
That one time I could have you here,
And make sure you were safe from harm.

Just once I’d like to kiss you,
And feel your lips on mine.
The softest touch and strongest passion,
In one moment in itself divine.

Just once I’d like to love you,
To know you love me too,
To feel the things that I have not,
Throughout this life and truth.

And just once,
I would like the strength to say goodbye.
To depart from you like the sunlight’s last rays,
And never let a tear shed from my eye.
