Just Lay Down

I can't fall asleep
With you on my mind tonight
I need to lay down

I can't close my eyes
And drift into sweet slumber
I lay my head down

I can't stop my thoughts
From racing vigorously
Tonight, I'm in bed

I finally give in to sleep...

It took a while... To count all of my sheep

In my mind's eye... I'm a shepherd by the sheep's side

Like David in the bible... Except I'm on a different ride...

Which means I can't emphasize with the hardships he has been through...

Only my own...

But that's nothing special and new...

But, I wish I can sparkle anew

Like you

I Lay Down
and drown

In blue
Waters...but that's nothing new...

those thoughts of depression
Are as fresh as dew...it sticks to me
Like glue
