Just Last Year
Last year, I was putting up new curtains
Adding new rugs to my trailer
Taking chances on bright and bold colors
All the glories of new beginnings
Last year, I was adding to my Tupperware
New bowls, happy and vivid
To keep all the good feasts I’d made
In hopes of serving them with dinner
Last year, I was encouraging my husband
To plant new bulbs in the garden
All the daffodils, crocus and lilies I love
Inspiring my heart, soul and spirit
Last year, I was adding sofa cushions
With verses inspirational and kind
Little additions to the living room couch
Awaiting my guest’s appreciation
Last year, I was filling my cupboards
With new pots, pans and dishes
Making my kitchen seem all new again
Welcoming the luxuriant spices
Last year, I was using my skills as a wife
To experience the nesting experiences
