Just Friends
My heart has been turned into stone
To love it is no more so prone
Trampled and crushed into pieces
It now bids itself to please
Yet, it feels for the world over
Claiming none is its own lover
Wanting to feel the joys of life
When it is imbibed with some faith
Around it is a well built wall
Guarded by the Father of all
Now, all of man are simply friends
To them, it does hold out its hands
Yet, it shall belong to no one
For the mundane now seems so bland
Now, in daylight it dreams of stars
The powers to cure its scars!
Life, temporal, is mere folly
Lived as if it were a story
Our fates already set out
The end, spelled in bold dark print!
