Just For the Sake of Sanity
To never again to feel any kind of pain
Or sickening social positioning
Because of some one else's incompetence
And weak assumptions
About what truth is and what it isn't
Has me listening to Jimi Hendrix religiously
A, Hey , girl
When I holla at you
As a friend
I'm simply trying to stay in touch
Can't afford to give a "What"
Whether or not you're felling me
Cause relations import weakness
Falsely believing in a sweetness
That knows nothing
About syrup and sugar
Poured pure and slow
To get involved with a beautiful stranger there lies a cure
In hope
That is nurtured by the misery and the mystery
Of this thing we've heard about
By photos snapped out from under my cap
From lenses of dreaming closed eyes
Or simply by word of a mouth
That has cussed, kissed, smiled, and frowned
All in one instance
While I'm kicked back remembering
The good times, better chances
And the hood romances
Back when all the fellas was getting play
Because they knew how to do all the M.C. Hammer dances
