Just Be

JUST BE

I have been through courts, I have been through divorce,
I have come up short, I have seen real support.

I have lost many friends, some of them to death,
But others were lost , to a lack of respect.

I have spent a lot of time alone, no one by my side,
The ones I have loved the most, are those that have died.

I have lost many lovers, I miss how they have held my hand,
They judged me as a man, not for who I am.

I am plagued by mental illness, some call me crazy,
Others just look at me and say I am fat and lazy.

I have been pushed around ever since I was a baby,
I used to cry alot, but lately I have been angry.

I am merely a man, I know I am nothing special,
But we are all special , our soul and our vessel.

Never forget that you will set yourself free,
And you will be able to be whatever you want to be.

Absolute candor and truth, Jason. I especially love the last two stanzas..I told another poet a few moments ago, that your circumstance does not define who you are! Each of us is unique and are alive for a purpose. Take care of yourself and strive to be all that you can be. If you're unhappy, you have it in you to change whatever it is that bugs you. God bless. Congratulations on your fine HM in the contest and welcome to PS! Always, Annalise
