Just Ask the Dead
One word
Said in anger
An action done in haste
A mistake spoken by an unknown person
A misunderstanding
Between people
Between countries
Differing beliefs
Ideals in total opposition
Hatreds long locked away
No longer spoken about
Barely remembered by this generation
Let loose upon an unsuspecting world
Guns, missiles, bombs and planes
Launched again millions of innocents
Bodies filled destroyed streets
Graveyards fill beyond capacity
Rivers turn red with wasted blood
Is it truly worth the loss?
Is it worth a mother mourning her dead baby?
Is it worth sending our youth a world away?
Is it worth just because of one single word?
Just ask the dead
They are the only ones who know the truth
War and death is never worth the price
No matter what the word
