Just a Thought-

I feel a lot of my written words are full of constipation.
Like I am missing the true flow
A great poet has.
Especially in a rhyme that means
amazing things to me.

How does one
succumb?
Into the world where it writes it's self?
I know how to let the pen flow freely, and it does
without thought-
and perhaps too much feeling....
But friends! Please do share with me
Your unique mystery...

This is as serious as I can get. A good example are the first 5 winners of the Animal
Speak Contest. All flow so well, a few hypnotic.
I am searching, please friends-
Help me find the way.
Amy

I agree with Carolyn (Don't think you need much help!) But some poems just pop out of the blue...These are usually my better ones (As if they already existed somewhere) Other longer and more complcated ones I often have to fret and sweat over....knowing the idea is good but constantly editing and re-editing...what a pain! - Tim

Though I don't think you need any help to come up with great poetry, Amy, James M. Goff is correct about setting a mood that invites inspiration. I get most of my best inspiration late at night or when I wake from a dream. Sometimes I'll see a movie or witness an event that inspires me. As for "Riding Misty" I'd love to adopt a mustang but don't have a place to keep a horse. Still, I do love horses -- my favorite animals! Thanks for your comments. Love, Carolyn

James, there will be no laughing. Poetry, writing- is a spiritual thing. I am sure everyone has their own "odd" ways of connecting with those words to make it flow. Anything from yoga to tree hugging, to turtle petting. Whatever, i just want to know! To try some new things out to help make it all flow. I take everything seriously, and thanks for your input... much appreciated.

Amy, don't laugh!....I quiet myself for about a 1/2 hr. listening to music, or nature if in the woods....this (says Robert Bly) moves my energy to my new brain...the frontal cortex, where creativity flourishes, (and, by the way, practiced by Hindu followers, and Einstein!) its then, I sometimes close my eyes and seek pure feelings (remember, don't laugh!) a theme comes to me and MAGIC! jamesy

This is not a poem but a seeking of criticism- your ideas. Everyone is unique and different, and I am looking for as many unique and different ideas I can get.
