Just a Song

I remember your words of “I love you”,
The moments I guarded in my heart.
The times we spent together,
the sadness when we were apart.

And we made false promises,
Of never breaking each other’s hearts.
Human error to make an unfathomable claim,
Coupled with the bliss of ignorant love.

Mistakes were inevitable,
Nothing is meant to last.
Time gave us history,
But it’s time to move from the past.

Few times I think of our harmonious flow.
The memories dwindle into a song,
Eventually a fading tune;
music without lyrics.
