Just a Gift of Time
The morning sun seemed brighter today;
Oh, yes, because soon you will be on the way.
Loneliness will not set in after coffee;
My mind is on kindness from you on the way.
You will tell me you love me if true to form;
Oh, it may be flattery, but does no harm.
We will talk of our thoughts and laugh, you and I,
Like no other friends, I don’t know why.
I will fall in my chair when you go home;
Awash with your smiles, but back alone.
Your gift of time left a golden paved mile
And will warm the days of an old woman for a while.
