Junk Drawers
Drawers of a life
riding many moves
through 23,725 yesterdays,
less time to leap
into gregorians' count.
Drawers of photo albums
or loose snaps of
faces peering out
from desert and ocean dune
lying amid greeting cards
from when you were greeted
for a birthday, anniversary or
in sympathy for losses
unfolding ever after.
Junk drawers
of pins and paper
flotsam and jetsam
tack and tie twist
pencil and pen
battery or bolt beneath
the latest warranty.
Guaranteed
to live
to laugh
to love.
To die laughing,
one foot in the grave
laughing.
