July's Lament
July whispers secrets through the scorching air,
A furnace of days, relentless in its glare.
The sun, a tyrant, rules the endless skies,
As weary souls beneath it yearn for cloudy ties.
Cicadas scream in harmony, a symphony of heat,
While shadows hide and wither on every vacant street.
The pavement blisters, burns beneath each step,
In July's relentless hold, no comfort can we get.
The days stretch long, unyielding in their might,
As sleepless nights blend softly with the light.
Fireworks burst in colors, a fleeting joy so bright,
Yet, in July's embrace, they fade into the night.
Sweat beads down like tears from faces tired and worn,
In July’s fervid grip, the spirit feels forlorn.
Yet somewhere in the blaze, a whispered hope remains,
For autumn's gentle touch to ease July’s fiery pains.
So, let July's harsh reign soon come to its end,
And with the fall, may coolness once again descend.
For in the heart of summer, longing hearts do cry,
For the gentle breath of autumn to lull July goodbye.
