Judo

Bow to the mat’s ritual space
The dance begins
Bare feet skip
Fingers grip sleeves
Legs sweep
Fight to keep 
balance strange tango
Now –
A flash of white, thud, shout,
Ippon!
The referee’s hand shoots up
In salute
