Judging Book Covers
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover but what about the cover art?
Strategically drawn out to draw in readers before the writing part
I pick my wine by the label too, and with a price under 20 to be sure
Wine worthiness over that is fable, obviously I am not a connoisseur
That is just my humble opinion though, I know I lack a fancy palette
It’s clear by my interest in cuisine, I’ll take a burger…what’s a shallot?
Even then, if a menu image doesn’t look very appetizing
I’ll never know if I missed out on something tantalizing
Back on topic, and what I mean is, who doesn’t start off with the cover?
How many people these days swiped right to find their current lover
I agree with the metaphor however, a good lesson for life in all
Though it should apply to everything, the follow through may be small
I think the majority does rely on the few who break the mold
We’ll try the holes in the walls as long as good reviews are told
If someone braver says “It’s worth the read,” over a blank cover book
Or says the unphotogenic, good personality should get another look
Sure, everything plays a part and we all think we’re better than that
But everybody has book they didn’t read or a missed first chat
So time to be adventurous, less judgmental as a whole
Try an unknown author, a first time artist, take on a new role
I’ll take my own advice here and do some work on growth of spine
Yet I’ll admit, as I do my best, It will be over cheap red wine
